Spring is nature’s season of renewal and rejuvenation for all beings. It is also the perfect time for you to join us for an Ayurvedic and Yoga Intensive Retreat May 8 – 13, 2008 at beautiful Haramara Eco Retreat on the sandy surf coast of Sayulita, Mexico.

The ancient teachings of Yoga and Ayurveda offer a way of detoxifying, nourishing and replenishing our bodies. During this five-night, six day retreat, you will be guided through a program of both teachings and experiences designed to awaken our beings and bodies to the potential growth of the new season.

By applying the wisdom of the ages-old Ayurvedic health care system to our daily lives, we find ourselves aligning our diet, yoga, meditation and other activities with the rhythms of nature. As our environment shifts from the chill of winter to the warmth of spring, so will we. It’s a wonderful prescription for health and balance.

These six days offer understanding and practices that can change your life and can be maintained for a lifetime. The principles are easy to learn. The techniques are fun to practice. The outcomes will enhance your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual balance.

Topics covered in the retreat will include:

  • The relationship of the healing system known as Ayurveda and the practice of Yoga.
  • Choosing the appropriate Yoga postures for your personal constitution and the current season.
  • Ways that a basic knowledge of Ayurveda can help anyone.
  • How to determine one’s unique prakruti, or constitution, and why this is vital to know.
  • The nature of agni, or the digestion, and the amazing role it plays in our life.
  • The three causes of disease and what we can do to prevent it.
  • The practice of dynacharya, daily cleansing techniques to stay in tune with the rhythms of nature.
  • Sense therapies - allow for the screams of the ego to subside, so the whisper of the soul can be heard (aroma therapy, sound therapy, color therapy, touch therapy)

Jennifer Chiarelli:
Jenn Chiarelli's journey began through the art of dance. She pursued her dream of becoming a professional ballerina when she joined the Cleveland San Jose Ballet as one of its youngest members. During her 11 year career with the company, Jenn danced various soloist and principal roles in works by notable choreographers including George Balanchine, Martha Graham, Donald McKayle, and Dennis Nahat. She received critical acclaim for her role as the Pioneer Woman in Martha Graham's Appalachian Spring.

Jenn discovered Yoga, when one of her colleagues took her to her first Ashtanga class in California. At first it was a wonderful new challenge and helped her detoxify her body and mind. She soon realized that her path through yoga was just beginning. At the same time she was blessed to have met her teacher Swami Khecaranatha, and began her study and practice of Kundalini Mahayoga. As she became more aware of her own spiritual journey, she traveled to Costa Rica to the Nosara Yoga Institute. There she received her yoga teacher certification in Interdisciplinary yoga. Jenn has met many yogis along the way, who have influenced her practice and teaching style, including Don and Amba Stapelton, Shannon Gannon and David Life, Seane Corn, and Dominic Corigliano.

Jenn teaches a Vinyasa flow class that integrates her background as a dancer and her love of yoga. She urges her students to explore their own internal rhythms, their own personal flow through the postures, breath, music, and an open heart.
